There were more people at the Club's AGM at Woodstock today after the race than there were in the race, which says a lot about (a) how cold and windy it was out there; and (b) what great support the Club gets from its members.
Brent Gibson rode off scratch by himself and finally dragged in second at the first turnaround of the hotdog circuit. The three minute bunch was caught before the first time past Woodstock but Ross McDonald was motoring along up ahead, and pretty soon there were only him and Ricky Lovell left of the sevens to take a substantial lead into the final six kilometers after the Maryborough Road turnaround. If anything they increased their lead in the run in with Ross displaying all the benefits of his recent European Alps training camp to win from Ricky and no-one else in sight. Scratch and second brought the rest of the field home after overtaking the two survivors off limit in the last couple of kilometers, with Brent Gibson capping off a great ride running third and recording fastest time. He was followed by Terry Schintler (3 min), Dale Lowe (30 sec), Murray Rankin (30 sec), Gavin Hill (30 sec) and John Weir (3 min). Di Jane (18 min) and Andrea Wilson (18 min) hung on gamely to fill the last two places. Afterwards at the AGM, Brett Williams stepped into the President's role, replacing Ricky Mitchell who has been a great contributor during his term. All the positions following soon.
