You've probably seen Hudson's videos on Facebook by now so you'll know it wasn't the best day for racing - in fact it was bloody awful.
No wonder only a small field turned up for the 35 km Power's Road block circuit and the handicapper opted for just three bunches with big gaps to at least give the riders reasonable sized groups. Blue sky on the start line turned to driving rain and hail by the time scratch was half way along the Wimmera Highway, by which time limit was almost at Newbridge and turned with the wind behind them. The 10 minute group had made up most of the gap by then and finally collared limit with just a couple of kilometres to go. Scratch endured another ten minutes into the howling gale before turning for home and were never in the hunt. Despite a couple of digs off the front by David Hare, the 10s lined up for the sprint which was won convincingly by Nicky Rose from Ray Colwell and David Hare, with Ricky Lovell (all off 10 min) coming in next and Ken Lacey (20 min) rounding out the top five. Brett Williams led the scratch group home a few minutes later to record fastest time.
