They call it "The Race of Truth"- and sometimes the truth hurts.
It certainly did today for some of the starters in the secret handicap club individual time trial over about 24 km on an out-and-back course at Woodstock. A strong crosswind made it tough in both directions. Try rider Andrew Innes made a great debut, recording the fourth fastest time overall, setting himself up for a place towards the back of the field in handicap events, but Chris Landvogt (3 min) took out the event in his first ever time trial by recording the second fastest time overall and beating Ross McDonald (4 min) Andrew Innes (3 min), Geoff Bennett (2 min) and Wendy Bennett (6 min) on adjusted times. Jo Stolz recorded the fastest time of 36 min 52 sec at an average of 38.5 km/hr, a great effort in the conditions.
