Small but enthusiastic fields for today's graded scratch races at Emu Creek, partly due to the club's female members saving themselves for tomorrow's Conni Classic, and no interclub visitors willing to brave the wind and prospect of rain.
All three grades rolled around the course with no substantial breakaways, resulting in the usual suspects winning the sprints. Brad Geyer beat the field home in A grade ahead of Brent Gibson and Andrew Innes, while in B Grade Terry Schintler led out down the home straight and was inevitably swamped by Rob Gartside, Shane Wall and Murray Rankin who finished in that order. Tom de Vries had a lash at getting away in the final straight but Peter Ladd stuck to his wheel, but when he jumped he couldn't hold off Peter Body who took out C Grade ahead of Andrew Berry with Peter running third.
Helpers and supporters are needed at Emu Creek to cheer on our women members in the Conni Classic starting at 10:00 a.m.. Be there if you can!
