The Dale Lowe Signs Summer Series finally got underway for 2018 after a false start last week with the race abandoned due to the heat.
Strong winds earlier in the day had abated to a stiff breeze by the time scratch started to chase down a massive four minute gap out to second scratch. Third scratch had another two minutes and they worked hard to run down the smaller eight minute bunch not long after the turnaround. The 10s and 11s were rounded up at the top of Exchange Hill and when these combined bunches set sail for home with a tail wind they still held a commanding lead over scratch who had just collared second. Paul Dynon (8 min) won convincingly in his comeback ride, beating home Dale Lowe (6 min), Murray Rankin (6 min), Gavin Hill (6 min) David Cripps (6 min), Rob Gibson (10 min), Ricky Lovell (8 min), and Mick Lavery (8 min). Jarrod Moroni lead scratch home a short time later to record fastest time.
