Twenty-seven riders turned up for tonight's Dale Lowe Signs Summer Series at Emu Creek, a pretty good field considering the windy conditions.
As has been the case in the last few races, there was a lot of depth at the back of the field with scratch, second and third all with powerful bunches. This time though they were thwarted by committed bunches out front, in particular the 13s who overtook limit before the turnaround and set sail for home with a big lead over the chasing 10 minute bunch. The four and six minute bunches came together early and then split up again at the foot of the Exchange hill. They managed to get over the top before scratch and second reeled them in for the chase back to Emu Creek. The 13s continued their great work together and lined up for the sprint well clear. Jenny Geyer (13) won convincingly from try rider Tanya Goddard, meaning that Tom deVries was officially second. James Rowe led the 10 minute home a short while later to cap off a strong bunch effort, followed by Sandy Agnoletto (10) in 4th, Wendy Bennett (13) and Peter Ladd (10). Scratch had rounded up the rest of the field but had to settle for fastest time for Brendan Schultz.
