28 men and 4 women lined up for the Central Victorian Vets club Championships, completing 2 laps on the punishing 27km Newbridge circuit.
The pace was on the moment the neutral car dropped the flag for the start of the race. Jarrod Maroni set a cracking pace up Llanelly Hill that triggered a chain of attacks with Mathew Grealy getting away, whilst the fast start blew the 2 leading ladies back into the second group of riders including some notable men who missed the break.
Attacks continues throughout the men's event without any success. In the end it come down to a bunch sprint. Hudson Crothers made an early move however Brent Gibson was able to grab his wheel to win comfortably from a fast finishing Noel Patrick Michael Hughes and a surprising 3rd to Jarrod Moroni.
The ladies were all split up due to a mechanical problem by Nicky Rose at Newbridge who was forced to chase Pam Robertson for the entire 2nd lap whilst Wendy Bennett was working hard to stay in contention.
At the finish Pam Robertson held on for a comfortable win, Nicky Rose rode strongly for a creditable 2nd and Wendy Bennett 3rd
Thank you to the all those who attended to make it a great day of racing.
